Software Engineer, Infrastructure at Sift.
About the role
Sift provides a data infrastructure platform designed for hardware engineering teams working on complex systems like rockets, satellites, and autonomous vehicles. You will help scale our backend and cloud architecture while building tools that turn high-frequency telemetry into actionable engineering insights.

What you'll do
- Architect and maintain scalable infrastructure to support our expanding customer base.
- Partner with software engineers to enhance application reliability and performance.
- Develop monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks to detect and resolve system issues.
- Manage automated deployment workflows and infrastructure operations.
- Adapt backend architecture to function across both cloud and on-premise environments.
- Define and prioritize roadmap goals to increase customer value.
- Direct projects focused on infrastructure efficiency, performance, and reliability.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in distributed systems, specifically managing cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Practical experience with container orchestration and technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated testing for distributed systems.
- Ability to thrive in an early-stage startup environment with high ownership.
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to security requirements and customer access obligations.
Nice to have
- Experience with our specific stack: Go, Java, React, TypeScript, Kafka/Redpanda, Flink, and Terraform/CDK.
- Expertise in networking and service architecture within multi-region or multi-cloud configurations.

Practical notes
- Salary: $160,000 - $200,000 per year plus equity and benefits.
- Work model: In-person collaboration at the Marina del Rey office occurs every Monday and Thursday, with a full week of team gathering every two months.
- Relocation: Open to candidates moving to Los Angeles or working from the San Francisco office.
