Senior Data Platform Engineer

About the role

Showpad is looking for a technical expert to design and maintain our cloud-based data infrastructure. You will work within our Data Platform team to develop efficient systems that support company-wide decision-making and analytics.

What you'll do

• Architect and manage high-performance, cost-effective data infrastructure on AWS.
• Design and optimize ETL and ELT pipelines to improve data flow.
• Use Infrastructure as Code via AWS CDK to manage platform resources.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure platform stability.
• Enforce data governance, security, and quality standards, including GDPR and CCPA compliance.
• Produce technical documentation for platform architecture and processes.
• Lead technical initiatives and collaborate with Data Science, Analytics, and Engineering departments.
• Mentor team members and promote engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Experience building and operating scalable cloud data platforms, specifically on AWS.
• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including S3, Glue, Lake Formation, Lambda, Redshift, Step Functions, IAM, and VPC.
• Knowledge of AWS CDK for Infrastructure as Code.
• Understanding of data lake architectures, such as medallion or zoned models, including Parquet, Delta Lake, and schema evolution.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, including Git, CI/CD, testing, and agile workflows.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, or Fargate.

Nice to have

• Advanced SQL proficiency.
• Practical experience with DBT.
• Familiarity with data cataloging or governance software.
• Background in streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Spark Streaming.
