Electrical Engineer, Test Equipment Design

About the role

Shieldai develops autonomous defense systems like the V-BAT UAV and Hivemind software to improve safety for service members. This position focuses on the Hardware Test Engineering team, where you will build the electrical and mechanical systems used to validate our aircraft hardware.

What you'll do

• Manage the lifecycle of test systems for UAV components, starting from initial design through final validation.
• Integrate various electrical disciplines, such as RF communications, power electronics, and system-level hardware.
• Create custom PCB designs to serve as interfaces between test stands and hardware under test.
• Construct specialized test fixtures using PLCs, relays, harnessing, and custom PCBAs.
• Write Python scripts to automate test sequences for improved scalability and efficiency.
• Participate in design reviews to provide feedback on hardware testability.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Current undergraduate, graduate, or PhD students graduating in 2026 are eligible to apply.
• Demonstrated experience with multidisciplinary hardware projects, including personal projects, internships, research, or club activities.
• Strong grasp of fundamental electrical, software, and mechanical engineering concepts.
• Proven ability to take ownership of technical tasks and deliver results.
• Collaborative mindset with a focus on high standards and adaptability.

Nice to have

• Experience scripting in Python for automation.
• Proficiency in PCB design software such as Altium, KiCAD, or Eagle.
• Familiarity with mechanical CAD tools like SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA.
• Ability to solve problems and adjust priorities in a dynamic work environment.
