Key facts

What you'll do

• Produce written content in various formats, such as press releases, social media updates, opinion pieces, and marketing collateral.
• Assist with external communications, including media outreach and executive messaging.
• Coordinate with different teams to guide projects from initial planning through approval and final publication.
• Help with executive communications, including preparing for media briefings, speaking events, and message development.
• Maintain relationships with external partners like PR firms and other organizations.
• Work with internal teams to refine messaging for audiences in defense, technology, and policy sectors.
• Research and write thought leadership content, ensuring a consistent voice.
• Keep track of news, industry developments, and competitor communications.
• Provide administrative support for the communications and marketing teams.

Requirements

• 2 to 4 years of experience in defense technology, corporate communications, or public relations.
• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, national security, political science, or a similar area.
• Experience collaborating with various teams and managing stakeholder expectations.
• Capability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic work setting.
• Familiarity with media relations, executive communications, and message development.
• Strong writing and editing skills with careful attention to detail.
• An interest in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and defense technology.
• Ability to clearly explain intricate technical concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects from beginning to end, including follow-through on specific tasks and deadlines.
• Strong judgment and critical thinking, including evaluating messages and identifying potential issues or gaps.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting communications for an organization in defense, aerospace, government, or a technical field.
• Knowledge of the U.S. defense environment and national security landscape.
• Experience working with public relations agencies and other external partners.

Practical notes

Compensation includes a base salary within the listed range, plus a bonus, benefits, and equity. Temporary employees receive a salary within the listed range and temporary benefits after 60 days of employment. Salary is determined by factors such as skill set, experience level, certifications, and work location. All offers are subject to a cleared background check and potential reference checks. Military fellows and part-time employees are not eligible for benefits.
