Staff Platform Engineer at Shakepay
About the role
This role focuses on building and refining the core engineering platform that enables all teams at Shakepay to develop, deploy, and manage software efficiently. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of our internal systems, focusing on automation and intelligent tooling.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design and update the architecture for Shakepay's internal developer platform.
- Create and implement essential infrastructure to support our expanding systems and teams.
- Drive the creation of internal tools and automation to boost developer productivity.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code and GitOps principles across the platform.
- Develop and enhance observability tools, including monitoring and alerting.
- Build and refine AI-powered internal tools and automated workflows.
- Enhance the reliability, scalability, and performance of our production systems.
- Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams on system design and operational best practices.
- Lead technical projects that involve multiple engineering groups.
- Guide technical decisions and mentor other engineers through design discussions.
- Influence the long-term technical direction of our infrastructure.
- Participate in incident response and improve operational resilience.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps.
- Proficient in programming languages such as Go, Python, or JavaScript.
- Extensive experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Significant experience with infrastructure-as-code and automated deployment.
- Experience building internal platforms or developer tools used by multiple teams.
- Experience improving developer productivity and velocity through platform enhancements.
- Experience building tools or workflows that use AI/LLMs for automation or developer assistance.
- Strong system design and architectural thinking abilities.
- Proven capability to lead complex technical initiatives across teams.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- A practical approach to solving business problems.
- Fluency in English is required.
Nice to have
- Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, Kafka, PostgreSQL, ArgoCD, Helm, or Datadog.
- Experience building internal developer platforms or self-service infrastructure.
- Experience in fintech or other regulated industries.
- Experience supporting high-scale production systems.
- Familiarity with Bitcoin.
