Senior Software Engineer with Accounting Experience

About the role

Sezzle is seeking a senior engineer with a background in finance to help scale our payment and installment systems. You will bridge the gap between technical architecture and financial operations by building auditable, automated, and high-performance reporting tools.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Design and implement financial reporting, reconciliation, and automation workflows.
• Develop backend services using Golang and create data-driven reports with Python and SQL.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from initial design to production deployment.
• Collaborate with finance and accounting departments to identify system gaps and improve data integrity.
• Build and maintain distributed systems within a microservices architecture.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish technical standards for the team.
• Define and track metrics to improve product performance and reliability.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of full-stack software engineering experience.
• Bachelor degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in building REST APIs using Go, Python, or Java.
• Hands-on experience using Claude or similar large language models to assist with research and productivity.
• Ability to drive consensus and lead technical projects.

Nice to have

• Professional background in accounting or financial analysis.
• Experience working within banking or financial services.
• Familiarity with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Elasticsearch.
• Knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus, Datadog, or NewRelic.
• Experience with containerized microservices deployed on AWS via Kubernetes.
