Sr Fraud Analyst, P2P & Cash Advance

About the role

This role focuses on safeguarding Sezzle's Peer-to-Peer and Cash Advance services from fraudulent activities. You will use your analytical skills and industry knowledge to detect, stop, and prevent financial losses and malicious schemes. The ideal candidate is inquisitive, data-driven, and can adapt to evolving fraud tactics.

What you'll do

• Review daily high-risk P2P transactions and cash advance applications to identify suspicious behavior, taking necessary actions like account holds or transaction declines.
• Analyze fraud patterns and emerging threats to pinpoint weaknesses in current security measures, and collaborate with the Risk Strategy team to propose and test new fraud detection rules and machine learning model enhancements.
• Investigate sophisticated fraud cases, including social engineering, account takeovers, and friendly fraud specifically related to instant money transfers.
• Develop and maintain reports on key fraud indicators such as false positive rates, loss rates, and service level agreements, presenting findings to management.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of experience in fraud investigation, risk management, or trust and safety roles within the fintech, banking, or payments sectors.
• Solid understanding of P2P payment systems (e.g., Zelle, Venmo, CashApp, ACH) and short-term credit or cash advance products.
• Proficiency in data analysis using SQL and Python, with the ability to synthesize information from various sources to uncover fraud networks.
• Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities, especially when working under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex fraud scenarios to individuals without a technical background.

• Experience working with modern fraud prevention tools and identity verification vendors.

• Compensation range: $100,000 - $150,000 OTE (On-Target Earnings), which includes base salary and variable pay.
