Senior Staff Software Engineer - SRE, Release & Test Platforms

You will design and manage cloud-native platforms focused on release qualification, testing, and operational readiness. This role involves building automated systems that improve deployment confidence and developer productivity through AI-driven operations and observability.

What you'll do

• Architect and maintain cloud-native platforms for software validation and release management.
• Create automated quality gates to monitor release health and operational risk.
• Integrate observability, reliability signals, and deployment intelligence into CI/CD workflows.
• Develop self-service tools, mock services, and test data management frameworks.
• Lead the evolution of Kubernetes-based infrastructure for scalable testing and deployment.
• Implement shift-left engineering practices through continuous verification and automated policy validation.
• Partner with engineering teams to establish architecture standards and reliability practices.
• Use AI to automate incident diagnostics, release risk analysis, and testing workflows.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience with a Bachelor degree, 8 years with a Master degree, or 5 years with a PhD in software, systems, platform, or reliability engineering.
• Advanced Kubernetes proficiency including networking, security, storage, and multi-cluster architecture.
• Experience operating large-scale Kubernetes platforms for mission-critical services.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or Ruby.
• Experience with progressive delivery methods like canary releases, feature flags, and automated rollbacks.
• Background in chaos engineering, disaster recovery, and resilience validation.
• Demonstrated experience integrating AI tools into engineering processes or decision-making.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS EKS, Azure AKS, or Google Cloud GKE.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes ecosystem tools such as Helm, Argo CD, Kustomize, Istio, Linkerd, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry.
• Experience with test frameworks like Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, REST Assured, PyTest, or JUnit/TestNG.
• Familiarity with GitOps workflows and infrastructure management using Ansible.
• Experience with service virtualization, contract testing, and synthetic testing.

Practical notes

• Base pay: $190,900 - $334,100 plus equity and variable compensation.
