Senior Agentic Search Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

You will help transition our organization from siloed search products to a unified, agent-native infrastructure. This position focuses on creating the foundational systems that allow agents to discover, retrieve, and utilize data across the entire enterprise.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain the core infrastructure for our agentic search platform, including index engines and ingestion pipelines.
• Manage hybrid indexing at scale, covering keyword-based sparse vectors, semantic embedding indices, and semantic-ID indexing.
• Design high-throughput pipelines for parsing, chunking, embedding, and access control to ensure data is ready for agent use.
• Implement multi-modal indexing to handle diverse data types like text, tables, images, audio, and video.
• Build knowledge graphs to resolve entities across enterprise sources and link resources like tickets and files.
• Optimize search performance, latency, and cluster health using techniques such as vector quantization.
• Ensure system reliability through capacity planning, index lifecycle management, and cluster scaling.
• Collaborate with Search Ranking, ML, and Platform teams in an in-person environment.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent engineering experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of full-time industry experience.
• Proficiency with search technologies such as Lucene, Solr, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch.
• Ability to work on-site in Mountain View every day.

Nice to have

• PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience working with vector databases.

Practical notes

• Base salary range is $143,200 to $243,000, plus equity, variable compensation, and benefits.
