Staff Product Manager, Pricing & Packaging
Job description
About the role
This role is the foundational hire for monetization at Scribe, owning the full strategy and execution of Pricing & Packaging across every customer segment. The hire will define how value is structured and captured as the platform evolves from a single product into a multi-surface offering. You will own the end-to-end P&L impact of pricing, directly influencing revenue, retention, and customer perception of value. This position requires a rare blend of strategic vision and operational rigor to translate business goals into tangible packaging changes. You will partner deeply with product, revenue, marketing, and finance to ensure P&P strategy is embedded in every release. The role grants direct influence over the business model and positions you as the authority on monetization within the company. Your work will establish the playbook for how Scribe captures value as it scales.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Own the end-to-end Pricing and Packaging strategy for all Scribe products, spanning both self-serve and enterprise motions, and define the experimentation roadmap that tests every major change.
- Re-architect the enterprise SKU architecture to create clear value differentiation and design product-led upsell mechanics that drive expansion across all tiers.
- Design monetization models for self-serve and free tiers, selecting and validating value metrics that balance adoption velocity with sustainable unit economics.
- Establish packaging guardrails and guidelines so that every new product addition is wrapped in a pricing and packaging rationale from day one.
- Build and run a structured experimentation program that measures the impact of pricing changes on revenue, retention, and customer behavior across segments.
- Partner with revenue teams to align packaging with sales motions, ensuring positioning and rollout plans are executable and data-informed.
- Translate complex data and strategic options into clear frameworks and decisions for the executive team and cross-functional leaders.
- Own the operationalization of pricing rules and metadata in coordination with engineering, ensuring accurate entitlements and billing logic.
- Act as the central thought partner for product managers across the platform, advising on how packaging affects product adoption and roadmap priorities.
- Drive alignment between product launches, value communication, and pricing to ensure customers clearly realize the value of Scribe.
- Create dashboards and analysis that surface pricing performance and elasticity, enabling rapid course-correction based on evidence.
- Establish a continuous feedback loop with customer-facing teams to surface pricing objections and opportunities for tier optimization.
Requirements
- You have owned pricing and packaging or a monetization portfolio at a software company and have a track record of driving revenue impact through P&P decisions.
- You have conducted pricing experiments across multiple business segments or customer types and used results to determine the optimal approach.
- You are deeply analytical and strategic, capable of building a point of view that withstands executive scrutiny and validating it through quantitative models.
- You have a strong track record of influencing cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority, including revenue, marketing, product, and finance.
- You have formed and communicated clear, defensible opinions on pricing and packaging based on evidence and are open to revising them when new data emerges.
- You are comfortable operating in environments where the roadmap is built iteratively alongside your pricing experiments rather than being delivered in a fixed sequence.
- You understand the operational realities of SaaS billing, entitlements, and how pricing decisions are implemented in product and systems.
- You have experience working with enterprise customers and understand the nuances of selling high-value, multi-year engagements.
Nice to have
- You have a background in PM or BizOps and are comfortable filling execution gaps to close critical monetization initiatives.
- You have experience monetizing new user-facing surfaces or navigating a transition from flat-rate to usage-based pricing.
- You have worked in environments with high autonomy, where you were responsible for defining the roadmap and experiments from scratch.
