Senior Software Engineer II

About the role

Join the In-Vehicle Experience team to lead the technical development of AI-powered voice assistants for drivers. You will shape product direction, design user interactions, and build the underlying systems that enable these experiences to evolve into a cohesive product. This role requires a product-focused, full-stack engineer who can translate user needs into technical solutions and drive innovation in a fast-paced environment.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Define the technical roadmap and product features for AI voice agent experiences.
• Develop and launch new voice agent functionalities from conception to production, iterating based on driver feedback.
• Establish the technical strategy for how voice experiences coordinate, manage context, and handle concurrent interactions.
• Make and document architectural decisions, prioritizing scalable foundations for future use cases.
• Provide technical guidance, review designs, and mentor other engineers on the team.
• Introduce and implement new patterns for full-stack development and AI-assisted engineering.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including end-to-end product ownership.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Recent, primary experience shipping LLM/agent-based products, including evaluating AI performance in production.
• Experience with memory, context, or retrieval systems for AI applications, such as RAG pipelines or vector databases.
• Proficiency in Go, TypeScript, or Python.
• Experience designing APIs and service boundaries for other systems.
• Proven ability to set technical direction for a team and mentor junior engineers.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical strategy.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience building zero-to-one products in high-autonomy settings.
• Experience with persistent memory or personalization systems for AI agents.
• Experience in multi-agent orchestration and conflict resolution.
• Experience designing scheduling or arbitration systems.
• Experience building systems that combine structured and unstructured data for product insights.

Practical notes

• Annual Base Salary: $154,700 - $260,000 USD
