Sr. Software Engineer, Cloud Platform

About the role

Samsara is seeking a senior engineer to join the Cloud Governance Platform team, focusing on identity security, compliance, and supply-chain protections. You will build automated systems and guardrails that ensure secure, compliant infrastructure across AWS and GCP environments.

What you'll do

• Architect and implement core components for cloud IAM, security controls, and compliance enforcement.
• Develop and maintain security tooling for the software supply chain, including SAST, DAST, and CI/CD pipeline patterns.
• Define the technical roadmap for governance and security tooling across cloud providers.
• Translate regulatory requirements into automated, continuous controls.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, and Product Engineering teams to address cross-functional risks.
• Provide technical mentorship through code reviews, design documentation, and peer collaboration.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Golang or Python.
• Deep hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS or GCP.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, threat modeling, and IAM systems.
• Proven ability to design and operate scalable, reliable distributed systems.
• Ability to influence and communicate technical tradeoffs to cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience developing internal developer platforms or governance systems.
• Background in infrastructure, developer tools, or productivity engineering.
• Familiarity with software supply-chain security practices.
• Proficiency with Terraform.
