This position is for a Senior Software Engineer II on the Web Experience team. This team focuses on enhancing the Samsara dashboard to streamline customer workflows and improve feature discovery. They are responsible for the full-stack infrastructure and product design patterns that define the user's interaction with the web platform, with a particular emphasis on integrating AI to accelerate user value and adoption.

What you'll do

• Guide the technical evolution of the Web Experience platform, encompassing its full-stack architecture, reusable components, and AI-driven features for the Samsara dashboard.
• Develop and implement complete features that integrate AI into core product workflows, covering user interfaces, backend services, and supporting systems.
• Enhance the scalability and foundational elements of the web experience to accommodate increased product usage and AI integration while maintaining high standards for reliability, quality, and user experience.
• Elevate the team's technical standards through code reviews, architectural discussions, mentorship, and close collaboration with product, design, and other engineering groups.
• Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to identify high-impact initiatives, make informed decisions about trade-offs, and foster a team culture that values long-term vision, inclusivity, and collective achievement.
• Act as a role model and advocate for Samsara's core values, embedding them into the team's practices as the company expands globally.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• A minimum of 8 years of software development experience with a strong foundation in programming and system design.
• At least 4 years of experience working with large-scale distributed systems.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience leading technical projects that involve multiple teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in building developer platforms, internal tooling, or CI/CD pipelines for organizations with hundreds of engineers.
• Demonstrated experience shipping production code using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript, or a comparable programming language.
• A proven ability to measurably improve developer productivity through faster builds, simpler deployments, reduced toil, and enhanced developer satisfaction.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity and aligning teams without formal authority.

Practical notes

• Salary range: $154,700 - $260,000 USD annually.
• This role is eligible for an initial Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) grant with no vesting cliff and subsequent refresh grants based on performance.
• Total compensation includes base salary, potential performance-based bonus/variable pay, and equity.
