Senior People Technology Analyst

About the role

Join our People Technology & Operations team as a Senior People Technology Analyst to help expand and implement Workday features. You will collaborate with internal teams to create efficient processes and effective technology solutions for our People programs. This role involves acting as an internal advisor to HR and business leaders, applying your HR and Workday expertise to solve complex challenges in a fast-paced, growing company.

What you'll do

• Lead the configuration of Workday Absence Management, including eligibility rules, accrual policies, and leave case management.
• Work with HR, Payroll, and other departments to integrate requirements into Workday, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
• Analyze proposed system changes to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
• Develop and modify custom reports to optimize standard processes.
• Manage and configure Workday enhancements and fixes across various modules like HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Timecards, Absence/Leaves, Payroll, and reporting, with a primary focus on Absence.
• Establish and maintain organizational structures, custom objects, and security roles within Workday.
• Collaborate with People Operations to define and document business requirements for Workday and other technology implementations.
• Assess and prioritize incoming technology fixes and enhancements.
• Promote and embody Samsara's cultural principles to support global scaling and new office development.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in fast-growing, global organizations.
• At least 2 years of direct experience configuring Workday Absence Management.
• Proven experience with Workday business process configuration, security settings, and organizational setup.
• Experience with Workday HCM, Benefits, and Core HCM modules, including both U.S. and international implementations.
• Demonstrated ability to write and execute test scenarios for system implementations and updates.
• Experience supporting project planning, requirement gathering, testing, and deployment phases.
• A solid understanding of leave and absence management processes, including accrual calculations and compliance.
• Ability to collaborate with Workday Studio and Integrations developers, analyze benefits processes, and troubleshoot integrations with benefits providers.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and prioritization techniques.
• Capacity to manage your workload, deliver fixes and enhancements on schedule without direct supervision, and provide accurate timelines and documentation for change management.
• Willingness to adapt to changing team priorities and support other Workday modules such as Payroll, Time Tracking, Compensation, and Benefits.

Nice to have

• Prior experience with Workday Absence, Payroll, Time Tracking, and Core HCM.
• Previous experience in leave administration or payroll processing.
• Knowledge of employment compliance regulations and legal best practices, such as FMLA and state-specific leave laws.
• Experience using tools like Jira, Zendesk, and other business applications that integrate with Workday.

Practical notes

• Annual Base Salary: $96,092.50 - $145,350 USD
• This role is eligible for an initial Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) grant with no vesting cliff, and ongoing refresh opportunities based on performance.
