Quality Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a detail-driven Quality Engineer to champion product reliability and ensure every assembly meets the highest customer and industry standards. You will own the quality metrics for our production lines and act as the primary link between manufacturing execution and customer requirements. This role requires proactive identification of systemic risks before they impact delivery or compliance. You will partner with cross-functional teams to embed quality into each step of the manufacturing workflow. The ideal candidate will drive data-based decisions that reduce escapes and improve first-time yield. You will own critical quality documentation and ensure traceability from design intent to final inspection.

What you'll do

• Monitor production quality performance and lead root cause analysis for nonconformances, escapes, and yield issues.
• Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring problems.
• Support first article inspections (FAI), in-process audits, and final inspection verification for SMT, Through-Hole, and mechanical assemblies.
• Collaborate with Process and Manufacturing Engineers to validate new processes, tooling, and equipment from a quality standpoint.
• Review MPIs, customer specifications, and inspection criteria to ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 and other applicable standards.
• Analyze defect and rework data to identify trends and drive process and quality improvements.
• Support DFM reviews, ECOs, and MRB activities to ensure proper documentation and traceability of quality decisions.
• Participate in internal and external audits (ISO, customer, regulatory) and maintain quality system compliance.
• Provide quality training and guidance to production operators and technicians.
• Track and report on key quality metrics to align production outcomes with customer expectations.
• Perform risk assessments using structured methodologies to evaluate process changes and new product introductions.
• Maintain and evolve the quality management system to reflect best practices and regulatory updates.
• Partner with suppliers to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead special projects that require quality expertise and cross-functional coordination.
• Ensure all quality records are accurate, complete, and available for audit and customer review.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in electronics or PCBA manufacturing environments (SMT, Through-Hole, Reflow, Wave Solder).
• Strong knowledge of IPC-A-610/620, AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems, and data-driven problem solving (8D, 5 Whys, Pareto, etc.).
• Proficiency with quality tools such as PFMEA, control plans, and statistical analysis (SPC).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence across teams.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test documents.
• Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to compliance and adherence to documented procedures and controls.
• Willingness to follow documented work instructions and quality policies consistently.
• Basic understanding of electronics manufacturing processes and failure mechanisms.
• Reliable transportation to and from the Carson City, NV work location.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship for this role.

Nice to have

• Experience with medical, industrial, or aerospace electronics quality standards.
• Familiarity with automated optical inspection (AOI) and X-ray inspection data.
• Background in statistical process control (SPC) implementation and control chart interpretation.
• Previous exposure to DFMEA and process validation activities.
