Staff Software Engineer, Storage Platform

About the role

You will architect and evolve the core infrastructure powering database access across our entire platform. This role involves leading high-level distributed systems projects to ensure reliability and performance for our critical brokerage services.

• Design distributed storage solutions including query routing, sharding, and proxy services.
• Manage disaster recovery and failover processes across multiple geographic regions.
• Develop control plane automation for thousands of caching clusters and databases.
• Improve system throughput and latency through performance tuning and observability.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to standardize storage connections while meeting security and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL and Aurora PostgreSQL internals.
• Background in building distributed systems involving replication, sharding, and distributed transactions.
• Proficiency in Go or Rust for backend infrastructure development.
• Practical experience with AWS managed services, Kubernetes, and observability stacks.
• Proven ability to optimize costs and reliability in large-scale production environments.

Practical notes

Base pay for Bellevue, WA is $230,000 to $270,000 USD. This position is eligible for bonus programs, equity ownership, and 401(k) matching.
