About the role
ALSO is developing small electric vehicles to address global transportation needs. This role focuses on ensuring the quality and successful integration of key vehicle components, from initial product launch through field operation. You will be instrumental in troubleshooting issues and improving product reliability.

What you'll do
- Support the introduction of new products and vehicle platforms.
- Present findings to engineering and leadership to resolve issues.
- Troubleshoot problems using specialized CAN tools.
- Replicate faults, extract logs, decode diagnostic codes, perform isolation tests, identify root causes (hardware, firmware, calibration, or wiring), and confirm fixes with structured re-tests.
- Prepare vehicles for pilot programs, activate telematics, and coordinate with field operations to maintain vehicle uptime.
- Update vehicle firmware remotely.
- Update service manuals based on new information.
- Collaborate with service partners to understand field failures.
- Travel to customer sites to investigate failure modes.
- Establish processes to analyze incoming telemetry data.
- Identify trends in product health and reliability.
- Estimate costs for component repairs and replacements.
- Drive design and diagnostic changes using real-world data.
- Create data visualization tools and dashboards for telemetry data.
- Analyze returned parts to determine root causes using the 8D methodology.
- Train technicians and service professionals on new tools and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience with embedded systems.
- At least 3 years of experience in new product introduction.
- Practical experience with electronics and high voltage systems (up to 100V+), including using multimeters, oscilloscopes, insulation testers, CAN analyzers, and appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Familiarity with service tools.
- Experience with cloud services.
- Basic proficiency in SQL and Python for data processing.
- Experience with planning and organization tools like JIRA and Confluence.
- Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, CAN FD, SPI) and Vector tools.
- Ability to define and request new features for vehicles and cloud systems to support engineering.
- Understanding of powertrain and charging basics, including Battery Management System fundamentals (cell balancing, State of Charge/Health), motor/inverter concepts (Field-Oriented Control, torque limits, derates), charger protocols, and safety interlocks for battery swapping and plug-in charging.
- Adherence to test methodologies, including DVP&R, writing repeatable test cases, maintaining detailed logs, tagging firmware/hardware revisions, and ensuring traceability from fault to fix to verification.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% to support collaboration, site visits, and business needs.
