About the role

This temporary position involves providing essential educational support to students with disabilities within the reputed company-Barlow School District. You will assist special education and classroom teachers in instruction, supervision, and clerical duties. This role focuses on supporting students with diverse learning, emotional, cognitive, physical, and/or sensory challenges.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Offer instructional and supervisory support to students with disabilities under teacher guidance.
• Complete various clerical tasks for teachers.
• Assist students with specific health care requirements.
• Help implement lesson plans and develop students' daily living and behavioral skills.
• Provide instructional support in various group sizes, including one-on-one.
• Modify classroom assignments as directed by teachers to meet learning goals.
• Administer first aid and medical assistance.

Requirements

• Prior paid or volunteer experience working with school-age children.
• An Associate's degree or higher, or at least 72 college quarter hours of study, or demonstrated knowledge in assisting with reading, writing, and mathematics instruction through a formal assessment.
• Successful completion of a Criminal Justice Background Clearance.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification.
• Completion of Bloodborne Pathogen training.
• Understanding of child development principles and instructional methods.
• Ability to perform basic clerical tasks and arithmetic.
• Proficiency in using computer programs like email, system applications, and word processing.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, including correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Capability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, and policies.
• Ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions.
• Experience in providing for students' special health care needs.
• Skill in understanding and addressing the needs of students with special requirements.
• Capacity to quickly learn new information and materials for various instructional settings.
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively as a self-starter.
• Competence in planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments with minimal supervision.
• Skill in managing multiple priorities and tasks to meet deadlines.
• Experience interacting with individuals of different age groups and cultural backgrounds.
