Senior Propulsion Components Test Engineer at Relativity Space.
About the role
Join a team focused on developing and refining propulsion systems for Terran R. This role involves designing and improving test assets, analyzing performance data, and ensuring the quality and repeatability of test operations. You will contribute to the production of flight engines and help shape future hardware iterations.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design and implement new test systems, including fluid, mechanical, and electrical components, to expand or improve testing capabilities.
- Create and refine test sequences, procedures, and operational processes for initial development and high-volume production.
- Examine test data to assess the performance of Terran-R and Aeon-R components.
- Establish and standardize operational requirements and processes to enhance safety, data quality, and test consistency.
- Plan and execute projects to improve testing capabilities and operational efficiency, aligning with the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant technical experience, including:
- Writing and performing test procedures.
- Designing and commissioning complex fluid-mechanical systems.
- Leading investigations into failures and anomalies.
- Strong comprehension and application of engineering principles in fluid, thermal, mechanical, and electrical domains.
- Demonstrated understanding of safety standards, common test hazards, and mitigation strategies.
- Ability to devise simple, creative solutions for complex problems and make critical decisions under pressure.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with industry test standards such as SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-1540D, and MIL-STD-810G.
- Deep knowledge and experience with test automation, data acquisition, and control systems.
- Knowledge of engine components like pumps, valves, regulators, check valves, and various electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic fluid system components.
- Desire to work hands-on in both development and production phases.
