About the role
Reframe Systems builds high-performance, modular housing through automated microfactories. We are seeking a technical leader to oversee the mechanical systems at our Andover facility and standardize the hardware architecture for our future expansion.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Direct the commissioning of mechanical subsystems at our FAB1 microfactory by managing equipment installation and performance validation.
- Produce detailed technical drawings and enforce ASME Y14.5 standards for GD&T to ensure manufacturing accuracy.
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis on gantries, fixtures, and end-effectors to verify structural integrity.
- Design mechanical components including safety enclosures, weldments, and grippers using Onshape.
- Coordinate with external vendors and machine shops to manage fabrication timelines and quality.
- Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement long-term engineering solutions.
- Provide technical mentorship to the engineering team regarding design reviews and safety protocols.
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in industrial automation, machine design, or heavy equipment.
- High proficiency in CAD software, specifically Onshape, with a history of managing complex assemblies.
- Advanced knowledge of GD&T for design, inspection, and manufacturing.
- Practical experience using FEA tools like Ansys or SolidWorks Simulation for load and deflection analysis.
- Demonstrated history of taking hardware from initial design through to full-scale factory operation.
- Ability to perform hands-on shop work, including the use of power tools, hand tools, and standard machining equipment.
Nice to have
- Experience with robotic workcells or large-scale gantry systems.
- Professional background in aerospace, automotive, or construction sectors.
- Expertise in designing heavy-duty material handling equipment or welding fixtures.
- Familiarity with PLM or PDM systems for version control.
