About the role
Reframe Systems builds climate-resilient housing through automated microfactories and a vertically integrated delivery model. We are seeking a Director of Operations to join our executive team and lead the transition from our current prototype facility to a high-volume, multi-site production network.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage the transition from our Andover prototype facility to our new 100,000 sq. ft. Billerica, MA production plant.
- Own factory P&L, throughput targets, labor efficiency, and unit cost reductions.
- Develop the organizational playbook and standard operating procedures to scale from one facility to many.
- Oversee plant leadership, including the Plant Manager, to ensure production goals are met.
- Scale the direct labor workforce from approximately 20 to 80+ employees across multiple shifts.
- Implement daily and weekly management rhythms such as S&OP, tiered huddles, and KPI dashboards.
- Establish data-driven continuous improvement processes to eliminate bottlenecks.
- Build and maintain quality and safety systems, including QA/QC gates and CAPA processes.
- Manage supply chain, procurement, inventory, and vendor relationships.
- Partner with Finance to implement real-time cost accounting by work cell.
- Act as a primary user and sponsor for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and operational data tools.
Requirements
- 10+ years of operations leadership experience.
- Direct ownership of at least one large-scale facility launch or ramp in industrial, fulfillment, or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Experience hiring, coaching, and managing Plant Managers and Shift Supervisors through periods of rapid workforce growth.
- Demonstrated ability to build operational infrastructure from the ground up.
- Experience operating in environments where physical assembly is integrated with software, automation, and MES tools.
- Analytical mindset with a history of building metrics systems to inform executive strategy.
- Executive presence with the ability to communicate operational strategy to board members and floor staff.
Nice to have
- Experience managing the transition from a prototype facility to a high-volume production factory.
- Background in volumetric modular construction, automotive, aerospace, or industrial logistics.
- Practical application of Lean, TWI, or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Comfort working in environments where production playbooks and product designs are evolving.
