Design Automation Engineer, Architectural Design and BIM at reframesystems.
About the role
Reframe Systems is seeking an engineer to create architectural and BIM tools that accelerate our design and business development departments. You will transform manual design and estimation tasks into reliable software that connects directly to our manufacturing systems. This position is for a builder who can bridge the gap between architectural practice and software engineering.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain production-grade tools that improve design team efficiency and integrate with downstream automation.
- Partner with interdisciplinary teams to increase throughput for architecture and business development.
- Create an exchange layer for external MEP consultants to prevent workflow bottlenecks.
- Implement automated BIM takeoffs to generate accurate cost estimates during the design phase.
- Build utilities that allow architects to perform rapid value-engineering iterations.
- Work alongside software engineers to support and deploy effective design tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in architecture or engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in CAD, BIM, or design automation, preferably within residential, Type III, or Type V construction.
- Proven ability to work across departments and establish a technical vision.
- Proficiency in Python or TypeScript, including experience with automated testing and deployment.
- Professional experience with Revit, including building custom integrations such as plugins, Dynamo, pyRevit, or APS.
- Experience building API integrations with external systems.
- Foundational understanding of parametric design.
- Ability to use coding agents to prototype and ship solutions rapidly from a 0-to-1 stage.
Nice to have
- Proficiency with Autodesk Platform Services.
- Experience integrating with Autodesk Build or similar project management platforms.
- Background in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
