Design Automation Engineer, CAD Automation

About the role

Reframe Systems is developing automated microfactories to produce climate-resilient modular housing. This role focuses on building the CAD automation infrastructure required to generate high-detail building designs at scale. You will bridge the gap between software engineering and parametric design to optimize our production pipeline.

What you'll do

• Create and maintain custom Onshape features using FeatureScript for production environments.
• Develop tools that integrate with Onshape via APIs to improve existing workflows.
• Expand the functionality of our modeling MCP.
• Partner with design engineers to identify manual bottlenecks and implement automated solutions.
• Automate the placement of fixtures and devices while incorporating MEP constraints.
• Build systems for automated code-compliance verification, including egress, window tempering, and outlet positioning.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to increase throughput from design through manufacturing.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of practical experience with parametric design software such as Onshape, SolidWorks, or Autodesk Fusion.
• Demonstrated ability to build custom features using Onshape FeatureScript.
• Proficiency in programming with Go, Python, or C#.
• Experience utilizing coding agents to prototype and deploy solutions rapidly.

Nice to have

• Background in building integrations or applications using the Onshape API.
• Software engineering skills related to CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and debugging.
• Experience in hardware product development, manufacturing, or DFMA.
• Knowledge of CAD-to-fabrication workflows including CNC and CAM.
