Senior CAD Design Engineer

About the role

Reframe Systems is building a future where high-performance housing is accessible through automated microfactories and modular construction. We are looking for a technical leader to oversee the transition from architectural concepts to fabrication-ready designs. You will manage complex parametric models and drive the automation of our design-to-manufacturing workflows.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain detailed, parameterized CAD models in Onshape for residential and multi-family projects.
• Manage 3D model structures, documentation standards, and revision control protocols to support fabrication.
• Coordinate with architecture, manufacturing, operations, and software departments to meet product development schedules.
• Lead mechanical feasibility studies and conceptualize standardized assemblies.
• Create and test functional prototypes, including the execution of Design Verification Testing to ensure performance and compliance.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineering staff regarding modeling and documentation standards.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in mechanical or product design, specifically within AEC, construction, or high-tech manufacturing.
• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field.
• Expert proficiency in parametric CAD software such as Onshape, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
• Experience handling complex, large-scale 3D assemblies and data management systems.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve multidisciplinary engineering problems.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
