Senior Security Engineer, AI Security

About the role

Reddit is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to focus on the security of our AI-powered products and infrastructure. You will bridge the gap between product security and engineering, ensuring our AI systems and agentic workflows are built and deployed with safety in mind.

What you'll do

• Perform threat modeling and design reviews for AI features, LLM integrations, agentic workflows, and MCP servers.
• Develop security primitives such as sandboxes, scanners, guardrails, and policy enforcement tools.
• Create security controls for inference and retrieval paths to mitigate risks like prompt injection, jailbreaks, and data leakage.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security into the development lifecycle.
• Transform individual security findings into scalable, reusable platform solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in product, application, software, or security platform engineering.
• Strong foundation in application security, including code review, threat modeling, and vulnerability remediation.
• Proficiency in building backend services and security automation tools.
• Knowledge of AI-specific risks, including insecure tool use, model output safety, and agentic system vulnerabilities.
• Understanding of infrastructure security, including identity management, authorization, cloud environments, and container isolation.
• Ability to communicate complex technical risks to diverse stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience securing RAG systems, agent frameworks, or AI-assisted development tools.
• Familiarity with Go, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Background in securing distributed systems, Kubernetes, or microservices.
• Experience with AI red teaming, model evaluation, or data governance.
• History of mentoring engineers and establishing security best practices.
