About the role
Reddit is seeking a seasoned Staff Data Scientist to enhance the advertising intelligence that drives the advertiser experience. This role offers significant autonomy and impact, allowing you to shape strategic decisions, uphold technical standards, and lead cross-functional projects within the advertising domain.

What you'll do
- Develop and implement probabilistic models for resolving user identities, creating methods to link on- and off-platform activities while respecting privacy.
- Oversee the statistical integrity of Reddit's Brand and Conversion Lift products, innovating experimental designs and building infrastructure for large-scale, efficient testing.
- Define strategies for incorporating new data sources, quantifying their value, and collaborating with modeling teams to improve bidding efficiency and return on ad spend.
- Establish frameworks for defining ground truth and evaluating the accuracy of identity resolution and measurement systems.
- Partner closely with engineering, product, and sales teams to align on objectives, translate insights into actionable plans, and drive execution.
- Mentor colleagues and promote best practices in modeling, experimentation, and measurement.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or Operations Research.
- For Master's degree holders: 10+ years of professional experience in applied science or data science.
- For Ph.D. holders: 6+ years of professional experience in applied science or data science.
- Thorough understanding of the advertising technology ecosystem.
- Proven expertise in at least one of these areas:
- Large-scale measurement and experimentation, including lift and attribution.
- Identity graph creation, resolution methodologies, and infrastructure.
- Predictive modeling with considerations for signal degradation.
- Advanced skills in statistical programming (Python or R) and SQL.
- Experience with machine learning or optimization techniques.
- Strong knowledge of experimental design, causal inference, or A/B testing.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities, with a history of influencing product and engineering partners.
- Experience working in dynamic, cross-functional environments.
