About the role
Reddit seeks a Senior Data Scientist who owns the end to end lifecycle of high impact product decisions in core growth and revenue domains. You will partner tightly with cross functional teams to translate ambiguous business goals into measurable outcomes and causal strategies. The role requires synthesizing large scale behavioral data into narratives that justify strategic shifts and resource allocation. You will define what success looks like for key product initiatives and build the analytical infrastructure to track it. This position operates at the intersection of rigorous analysis and product intuition where recommendations directly influence roadmap priorities. You will act as a technical thought partner helping stakeholders understand underlying user dynamics and tradeoffs. Ultimately your work will shape how Reddit optimizes for user value and sustainable monetization across its communities.

What you'll do
- Design and execute observational causal studies and experiment meta analyses that clarify tradeoffs and guide product strategy at Reddit.
- Elevate experimentation standards by refining design, execution, and deep dive analyses to maximize learning per test run on consumer and ads products.
- Build and maintain ETL pipelines, analytical tables, and self serve dashboards that enable data teams and partners to explore insights independently.
- Define, evaluate, and align team level KPIs to support quarterly goal setting, tracking, and demonstration of data driven impact.
- Partner with product, engineering, design, marketing, and business development to gather requirements, validate assumptions, and communicate results.
- Mentor junior data scientists and business partners to strengthen data literacy, analytical rigor, and decision making across organizations.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear narratives for both technical and non technical audiences including executive stakeholders.
- Navigate ambiguous problem spaces by constructing action plans, incorporating feedback, and iterating based on evidence and stakeholder input.
- Ensure data quality, reproducibility, and scalability of analytics assets as Reddit continues to grow its data footprint.
- Champion best practices in experimentation and measurement to foster a culture of learning and accountability.
Requirements
- Hold an Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or Operations Research.
- M.S. holders must bring 5 or more years of industry experience in applied science or data science roles.
- Ph.D. holders must bring 4 or more years of industry experience in applied science or data science roles.
- Demonstrate expert proficiency in querying relational databases using SQL and programming languages such as R or Python.
- Show deep understanding of online experimentation, causal inference, and statistical techniques relevant to product evaluation.
- Thrive in fast paced, innovative environments with a strong bias toward action and ownership.
- Exhibit strong technical communication and data storytelling skills for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Tackle ill defined problems by constructing clear action plans, gathering feedback, and iterating toward robust solutions.
- Prior experience working with large scale behavioral data and building data products that support decision making is essential.
- Comfort with stakeholder management and cross functional collaboration is required to align on goals and drive outcomes.
Nice to have
- Preferred industries or product domains related to social platforms, marketplaces, or advertising systems.
- Experience building and maintaining internal data platforms or tooling for other data scientists.
- Background in measuring network effects, community health, or safety related metrics.
- Familiarity with Reddit's tech stack, data infrastructure, and experimentation culture.
Practical notes
This role is based in the United States with remote friendly arrangements. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or at the time of hire. The position reports to the Data Science organization and is open to multiple office locations including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York where applicable. No specific hours are mandated beyond standard professional expectations. Travel is not required for this role.
