Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Read AI is building intelligence into professional communication to improve productivity across meetings, email, and messaging. As part of the Media Capture team, you will develop the systems responsible for gathering and processing the audio and video data that powers our platform.

What you'll do

• Architect and develop a next-generation live media pipeline optimized for low-latency streaming.
• Support real-time features like live notes and transcription by ensuring pipeline speed and stability.
• Manage and refine the meeting agents that interface with Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams.
• Troubleshoot real-time connection issues and implement monitoring systems to proactively identify service disruptions.
• Optimize FFmpeg and GStreamer pipelines to balance performance, quality, and operational costs.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to translate technical requirements into functional features.
• Communicate complex engineering challenges to non-technical partners.

Requirements

• Demonstrated history of building and maintaining scalable software systems.
• Technical versatility across multiple domains such as backend, frontend, devops, or data engineering.
• Ability to work independently on ambiguous problems with a high degree of autonomy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Must be a self-starter with a creative approach to problem-solving.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure, specifically regarding resource optimization and auto-scaling.
• Familiarity with streaming standards and protocols including WebRTC and MoQ.
• Technical proficiency with media processing tools like GStreamer and FFmpeg.
• Knowledge of browser rendering, HTML, and CSS.
• Previous experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.
