About the role
We are seeking a high-impact Logistics Manager to own and oversee our end-to-end supply chain and freight operations. This role is in establishing and maintaining our global logistics framework, ensuring that all shipments are executed smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for coordinating international shipments, negotiating with freight forwarders, and managing shipping documentation for our hardware products. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment, balancing strategic planning with hands-on operational execution. You will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to optimize logistics processes, ensure compliance with trade regulations, and support the company's scaling efforts.

What you'll do
- Coordinate shipments of finished goods, sub-assemblies, and parts both domestically and internationally, working closely with Quartermaster's Contract Manufacturers (CMs) to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
- Develop and implement the company's long-term logistics strategy, aligning operational activities with overall business goals. While focusing on strategic planning, remain actively involved in creating shipping labels, preparing shipping documents, and managing day-to-day shipment execution as operational volume demands.
- Collaborate seamlessly with the Trade Compliance Manager to ensure that all shipments are classified correctly with HTS codes, ECCN, and other relevant classifications, adhering to all import and export regulations.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, including customs brokers, freight forwarders, express carriers, and trucking companies. Develop, monitor, and improve KPIs for these vendors to ensure high-quality service levels.
- Keep track of shipment schedules, proactively communicate any delays or issues to stakeholders, and maintain comprehensive reports on logistics expenses, transit times, and shipment statuses.
- Lead efforts to optimize shipping routes, reduce costs, and improve overall supply chain efficiency. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all trade regulations, including proper documentation, classification, and adherence to export/import laws. Maintain accurate records for customs clearance and regulatory purposes.
- Generate and review shipping labels, customs declarations, and other necessary documentation for international hardware shipments.
- Support scaling logistics operations from startup to growth phase by balancing strategic initiatives with tactical execution, including managing operational workflows and documentation processes.
- Work closely with internal teams such as procurement, security, and compliance to ensure logistics activities align with company policies and security standards.
- Monitor and report on logistics performance metrics regularly, providing insights and recommendations to leadership for continuous improvement.
- Assist in vendor negotiations and onboarding processes to establish reliable logistics partnerships that meet company standards.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of carrier operations, transit routes, and international shipping documentation requirements specific to hardware and electronics.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive in global logistics.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience working as a seasoned logistician, with specific exposure to customs broker agencies or freight forwarding companies handling international shipments.
- Proven track record of working in fast-paced startup environments, with experience scaling logistics operations from zero to one or beyond.
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with internal cross-functional teams and external global stakeholders, aligning logistics priorities with overall business objectives.
- Strong capability to switch seamlessly between high-level strategic planning and tactical, operational tasks such as document creation, shipment tracking, and vendor management.
- Proficiency with modern project management and communication tools such as Notion, Slack, and similar platforms.
- Deep understanding of carrier operations, transit routes, and international shipping documentation requirements for hardware and electronics.
- Excellent negotiation skills to manage relationships with logistics vendors and carriers, ensuring cost-effective and reliable service.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments, vendors, and documentation simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to coordinate with internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, demands, and regulatory environments.
