About the role
Qualcomm is hiring a Staff-level engineer to develop video and computer vision algorithms for Snapdragon-powered devices including mobile, robotics, AR/VR, and autonomous systems. You will bridge the gap between research and production by optimizing complex AI models for specific hardware architectures. This role involves technical leadership, system-level design, and cross-functional collaboration to deploy visual analytics at scale.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Research and implement video processing and computer vision pipelines from initial concept through to final production.
- Define system-level architecture and feature requirements to guide hardware and software development.
- Optimize algorithms for memory, power, bandwidth, and compute constraints on embedded platforms.
- Partner with hardware and software teams to commercialize visual analytics technologies.
- Produce technical documentation and design specifications for internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 4+ years of experience; OR Master's degree with 3+ years of experience; OR PhD with 2+ years of experience.
- Expertise in computer vision and video processing algorithms.
- Understanding of SoC architecture, including accelerators, memory hierarchies, and hardware/software interfaces.
- Proficiency in Python and C/C++ for production development and on-device deployment.
- Experience with deep learning architectures and ML/CV frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, and OpenCV.
- Ability to work across algorithm, software, and hardware boundaries.
- Experience with embedded AI deployment and performance profiling tools.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering field.
- 4+ years of experience in system-level product development and hardware/software optimization.
- 3+ years of experience working in large, matrixed organizations.
- 1+ year of experience in technical leadership or interacting with senior leadership.
- Familiarity with FPGA prototyping, RTL design, or hardware modeling.
- Published research, patents, or other external technical contributions.

- Compensation includes a base salary range of $148,300 to $222,500, plus an annual discretionary bonus and RSU grants.
