What you'll do
- Design and develop automated systems for the integration and control of photonic components in quantum computing applications.
- Collaborate with optical engineers and physicists to understand system requirements and translate them into effective automation solutions.
- Implement software solutions that facilitate data acquisition, processing, and analysis to enhance system performance.
- Conduct experiments to test and validate the functionality and reliability of automated systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing automation setups to ensure smooth operation and minimal downtime.
- Create detailed documentation for automation processes, including user manuals and technical specifications.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure the scalability and manufacturability of automated systems.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in photonics and automation technologies to continuously improve our systems.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings to align automation strategies with overall project goals and timelines.
Requirements
- A Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with a focus on photonics or automation.
- At least 5 years of experience in automation engineering, particularly in the context of photonics or optical systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or LabVIEW for developing automation software.
- Strong understanding of optical systems, including lasers, detectors, and waveguides.
- Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation used in photonic applications.
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques and their application in optimizing automation processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
