Manager of Accounting Operations

About the role

Protolabs is seeking a leader to oversee our accounting operations and manage a dedicated finance team. You will drive efficiency across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit collections while ensuring full compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley standards.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Lead and develop the accounting operations team, including hiring, performance management, and coaching.
• Manage end-to-end accounts payable processes, including vendor invoice processing and payment approvals.
• Oversee accounts receivable, including cash collection targets, customer communication, and bad debt reserve forecasting.
• Direct customer invoicing activities and ensure timely daily reporting.
• Handle credit and collections, including credit risk analysis, managing ship holds, and maintaining DSO under 45 days.
• Ensure all financial operations comply with Sarbanes-Oxley policies.
• Support month-end closing activities and generate weekly financial performance reports.
• Implement process improvements and lead system-related projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of finance leadership experience, including direct personnel management.
• Minimum 4 years of accounting experience.
• Ability to work onsite in Maple Plain, MN, Tuesday through Thursday.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or granted refugee/asylee status to meet ITAR compliance requirements.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical research capabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors, and internal staff.

Nice to have

• Experience with ERP systems, specifically Microsoft Dynamics.
• Previous finance experience within a manufacturing environment.
