Financial Analyst

About the role

Protolabs is seeking a detail-oriented professional to join our finance department and gain comprehensive exposure to our profit and loss statements. This role focuses on the intersection of financial reporting, planning, and strategic analysis to support our leadership team. You will play a vital part in monitoring the financial health of our digital manufacturing operations.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports comparing actual performance against forecasts and historical data.
• Design and maintain tracking systems for financial initiatives, including new product offers and productivity metrics.
• Build and manage data visualizations using the DOMO platform.
• Collaborate with finance leadership to construct annual plans, quarterly business reviews, and regular forecasting presentations.
• Consolidate departmental budgets and manage the core assumptions used in financial planning.
• Perform variance and trend analysis to provide actionable insights for business decision-making.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with data modeling.
• Ability to work onsite in Maple Plain, MN Tuesday through Thursday.
• Must meet ITAR compliance requirements: U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or granted refugee/asylee status. Temporary visa holders (E, F-1, H-1, H-2, L, B, J, TN, or OPT) are ineligible.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Professionalism, discretion, and high-level communication skills.

Nice to have

• 2-3 years of finance experience within a manufacturing setting.
• Experience with Microsoft AX or similar ERP systems.
• Familiarity with DOMO for visualization reporting.
• Experience utilizing budgeting software packages.

Practical notes

• Physical requirements include the ability to sit for extended periods, use office equipment, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
