Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Lead significant projects from initial concept through design, development, and release.
• Collaborate directly with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into product requirements.
• Architect and implement complex user interfaces and workflows, considering all possible states and interactions.
• Develop tools for internal teams to manage data samples and customer access.
• Create customer-facing experiences for browsing, previewing, and evaluating large datasets.
• Optimize the performance of data-heavy interfaces in the browser, focusing on speed and responsiveness.
• Build search functionalities that allow users to find specific content within vast catalogs.
• Determine the appropriate architecture for features, deciding between client-side, route handler, or backend service implementation.
• Ensure the secure handling of sensitive data, including access controls and privacy measures.
• Set high standards for code quality, performance, and user experience within the team.
• Guide design discussions, conduct code reviews, and support other engineers.
• Contribute to a shared design system by creating reusable components and patterns.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience developing production web applications.
• Proficient in TypeScript and React, with experience using Next.js or a similar full-stack framework.
• Proven ability to deliver end-to-end user-facing features, including UI, API, data models, and testing.
• Strong design sensibilities, capable of creating complex workflows and articulating design choices.
• Solid understanding of backend principles, including API design, Postgres, authentication, and cloud services (AWS).
• Experience building performant interfaces for large or media-rich datasets, utilizing techniques like streaming and caching.
• Demonstrated experience working directly with users to inform product development.
• A detail-oriented approach combined with a proactive and action-oriented mindset.

Nice to have

• Experience with in-browser media playback technologies such as HTML5 video/audio, HLS, and container formats.
• Familiarity with building user experiences on top of embedding-based or vector search systems.
• A portfolio showcasing design taste through side projects or previous work.
• Experience developing or maintaining a design system across multiple applications.
• Knowledge of authentication systems (Clerk) and permission modeling.
• Prior experience working with sensitive or regulated data (e.g., HIPAA, PHI).
• Previous experience in a startup environment as an early engineer.
