About the role
This role is integral to ensuring our insurance products meet all necessary regulations and are correctly implemented. You will bridge the gap between product creation, legal adherence, and market readiness. Your work will directly support the Employee Benefits Division.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Create and refine insurance contracts and policy documents to align with product designs and legal mandates.
- Work with state insurance departments and other regulatory bodies to secure approvals for policy forms and manage their subsequent implementation.
- Collaborate with Product Development, Legal, Operations, and other internal departments to ensure compliant documentation.
- Oversee the review, editing, and approval stages for policy documents.
- Act as a knowledgeable resource for product-related information, including marketing materials and training content.
- Develop and maintain necessary application and administrative forms.
- Manage and organize product filings within internal systems, contributing to process improvements.
- Represent Product Compliance on project teams, ensuring timely delivery of compliance-related tasks.
- Track and communicate regulatory changes that could affect our products.
- Engage in industry meetings concerning product and compliance matters.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in the insurance sector, with a focus on regulatory compliance or product development.
- Demonstrated proficiency using the System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing (SERFF) and the Florida Insurance Regulation Filing System (IRFS).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Nice to have
- A Bachelor's degree in a related area.
- A paralegal certificate or prior legal experience.
- Professional insurance designations such as FLMI, AIRC, or ACS.
- Experience representing an insurance carrier in industry associations.
- A history of successfully adapting to changing environments, such as new product launches or organizational changes.
Skills & tools
- Knowledge of state insurance filing regulations and approval procedures.
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and managing insurance contracts, policy forms, endorsements, applications, and administrative or service forms.
- Familiarity with group life and health insurance products and their compliance requirements.
- Ability to interpret and apply legal and regulatory requirements to product and form design.
- Strong analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining compliance needs to diverse teams.
- Proven ability to independently manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.
- Experience working with Product Development, Legal, Operations, Claims, New Business, Systems, and external regulatory bodies.
- Excellent organizational skills for tracking filings, approvals, and project timelines.
- Capacity to adapt to regulatory shifts, changing priorities, and evolving business needs.
- Sound professional judgment and discretion in handling sensitive regulatory and product information.
