Sr Engineer - Licensing, Contracting and Compensation at Protective.
About the role
Protective is hiring a software engineer to join the Licensing, Contracting and Compensation division within the IT department. You will focus on modernizing and maintaining systems that manage agent contracts and compensation calculations. This role balances technical development with direct collaboration alongside business analysts and internal stakeholders.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design, code, test, deploy, and maintain software applications.
- Modernize and enhance existing agent contracting systems.
- Collaborate with business analysts and customers to define requirements and deliver cost-effective solutions.
- Debug software issues and implement permanent resolutions.
- Create and update technical documentation.
- Review peer code to provide feedback and approval.
- Manage competing priorities and resolve project conflicts.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience.
- 3+ years of .NET development experience.
- Proficiency in C# and SQL database development.
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with Visual Studio, ASP.NET Web API, WCF, SOAP, and ASP.NET MVC 5+.
- Experience with SQL Server 2019.
- Ability to build dynamic user interfaces from mockups and specifications.
- Experience with unit testing.
- Post-secondary degree, preferably in Computer Science, Math, or Management Information Services.
Nice to have
- Experience with Agile methodologies.
- Experience with automated testing and automated UI testing frameworks like Selenium.
- Experience with Angular, React, or similar JavaScript libraries.
- Experience with Bootstrap or similar CSS frameworks.
- Knowledge of responsive design principles.
- Experience with Distributed and Asynchronous Design and Development.
- Experience with CI/CD processes.
Skills & tools
- C#, SQL Server 2019, .NET, ASP.NET MVC 5+, Visual Studio, Web Services (WCF, SOAP, Web API), HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
