Solutions Architect - Freight Technology

About the role

You will act as the primary technical and business advisor for our expansion into the 3PL, 4PL, and LSP sectors. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical integration knowledge and deep operational experience within the logistics industry to drive complex sales engagements.

What you'll do

• Lead technical and business discovery sessions using industry-specific terminology related to carrier networks, freight audit, and TMS interoperability.
• Map customer pain points to capabilities within the Movement platform suite.
• Design and execute technical integration strategies, including mapping project44 APIs to existing LSP tech stacks.
• Conduct hands-on API prototyping, including constructing test calls, configuring webhooks, and parsing JSON/XML data.
• Build and present ROI models focused on shipment tracking costs, carrier compliance, and exception management.
• Partner with Account Executives to develop account strategies and influence the product roadmap through market feedback.
• Represent the company as a subject matter expert at industry events like TIA, CSCMP, and FreightWaves.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on operational or technical experience within a 3PL, 4PL, or managed transportation provider.
• Direct background as an operator, such as an implementation lead, operations manager, or solutions architect.
• Proficiency in LSP operational processes, including load tendering, mode optimization, and managed transportation program structures.
• Demonstrated success in managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects like TMS migrations or large-scale carrier onboardings.
• Ability to bridge the gap between technical integration architects and executive leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience mentoring and coaching other solutions engineers.
• Background in driving enablement initiatives for sales teams.

Skills & tools

• TMS Platforms: MercuryGate, TMW/PeopleNet, Oracle TMS, Blue Yonder, McLeod, Transplace.
• Technical: API documentation, Postman, JSON, XML, EDI (204, 210, 214), ELD integrations.
• AI: Ability to use AI tools for daily operational tasks and decision-making.

Practical notes

• All team members are expected to use AI tools with intent and critical judgment in their daily work.
• The role requires a consistent on-site presence at our Chicago headquarters to foster collaboration.
