What you'll do
- Manage and maintain the organization's servers, ensuring they are secure, updated, and performing optimally.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and enhance user experience.
- Implement and manage backup solutions, ensuring data integrity and availability in case of system failures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application deployment and system integration efforts.
- Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge transfer and compliance.
- Provide technical support to end-users, addressing their IT-related queries and resolving issues efficiently.
- Conduct regular system audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement necessary security measures.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends and technologies to recommend improvements and innovations within the IT infrastructure.
- Assist in the planning and execution of IT projects, ensuring they align with organizational goals and timelines.
- Manage user accounts and permissions, ensuring that access controls are enforced according to company policies.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure business continuity in the event of a major incident.
- Train and mentor junior IT staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a System Administrator or in a similar IT role, with a minimum of 3 years in a professional environment.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems, particularly Windows Server and Linux distributions.
- Familiarity with network protocols and services, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation of routine tasks.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) are a plus.
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and backup strategies.
- Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
- Previous experience in a DevOps or Agile environment.
- Understanding of compliance standards such as GDPR or ISO 27001.
