Defi Liquidity Lead
Job description
About the role
Institutional Liquidity Lead
Polymarket operates the world's largest prediction market platform, enabling individuals to trade on the outcomes of real-world events across politics, economics, sports, culture, and current affairs. The platform functions as a peer-to-peer marketplace with no centralized "house," aggregating diverse opinions into transparent, market-based probabilities that reflect collective expectations about the future. The company has experienced rapid growth, reporting $21 billion in traded volume during 2025 and gaining adoption as an alternative news source. The institutional liquidity role supports this growth by strengthening the foundation of market depth and reliability.
This is an institutional role focused on managing Polymarket's most critical client relationships. You will work directly with senior coverage leadership to support market makers, trading firms, hedge funds, and other institutional partners. Your primary focus will be liquidity strategy, market microstructure, and expanding liquidity provider capacity. You will be embedded within the day-to-day of institutional coverage, onboarding new partners, maintaining healthy relationships with existing ones, and identifying opportunities to deepen engagement across the book. This position reports directly to the Head of Institutional Liquidity.
You will own the end-to-end relationship with market maker and institutional clients. This includes initial outreach, onboarding, ongoing engagement, and follow-ups, serving as the reliable point of contact for daily operational needs. A core responsibility will be identifying and onboarding new market maker counterparties, including crypto-native prop trading firms, traditional high-frequency trading shops, and TradFi liquidity providers, to expand the base of liquidity providers on Polymarket. You will represent the company at industry events and client meetings alongside the institutional coverage team.
Synthesizing client feedback and relaying insights internally to product and markets teams will be essential for improving market accuracy and speed. You will monitor market maker performance against quoting requirements, uptime metrics, and market share rankings, then deliver accurate, timely monthly performance reporting. Structuring incentive programs that reward genuine liquidity depth in core, high-volume markets-rather than superficial coverage of illiquid segments-will be a key duty. You will also track competitive dynamics to ensure Polymarket's market maker economics remain attractive without overpaying for liquidity.
Collaboration with Data and Engineering teams will be required to build real-time dashboards tracking quoting depth, spread width, and uptime. These tools will support oversight and decision-making. The role demands a thorough understanding of market making, liquidity provision, and trading structures to hold technical conversations with confidence.
The ideal candidate brings 7 or more years of client-facing experience in financial services, such as institutional sales support, prime brokerage, trading operations, or capital markets. You must speak the language of market makers and institutional investors, making collaboration feel natural. Strong organizational skills and responsiveness are required, as clients will trust you to follow through on complex tasks.
You must act with ownership, ready to manage your own book from day one. Clear, direct communication-both in writing and in person-is essential when interacting with market professionals. Experience with trading mechanics and financial products should be sufficient to contribute meaningfully to technical discussions. A self-starter mentality is necessary to identify needs and act before being asked.
Working effectively across product, legal, compliance, and operations to close deals efficiently is mandatory. Prior experience with crypto exchanges, digital asset prime brokerage, or institutional fintechs is required. Familiarity with market making and liquidity provision in fast-moving markets is expected. Understanding prediction markets or alternative data streams is a plus, as is experience coordinating institutional onboarding with legal and compliance teams.
Polymarket offers a competitive salary and equity package, unlimited PTO, full health, vision, and dental coverage, a 401k match, and a hardware setup that includes a new MacBook Pro, large display, and accessories. The position is based in New York and is full-time. Compensation ranges from $180,000 to $220,000 USD annually.
