About the role
Polymarket is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join its Data team, specifically focusing on Trust and Safety. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the analytical foundation for the Trust and Safety team, playing a crucial part in maintaining the integrity of the U.S. exchange. Your responsibilities will include proactively identifying and addressing fraudulent activities and issues related to anti-money laundering (AML). This position will allow you to make a direct impact on real-money markets, significantly influencing the decision-making processes of the Trust and Safety team. You will be instrumental in translating complex behavioral patterns into actionable intelligence that safeguards the marketplace. - Investigate anomalous trading patterns and user behaviors to identify potential fraud indicators, utilizing advanced SQL queries to isolate relevant data points.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive dashboards that provide the Trust and Safety team with real-time visibility into key risk metrics and compliance statuses.
- Design and execute end-to-end analytical investigations on open-ended questions related to market integrity, formulating hypotheses and testing them rigorously.
- Collaborate with compliance and operations stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust data models and SQL logic.
- Create clear narratives around complex data findings, ensuring that non-technical team members can understand the implications and recommended actions.
- Build detection logic and rules engines that automate the identification of suspicious activities, improving the efficiency of AML investigations.
- Monitor the effectiveness of existing trust and safety controls, providing data-driven recommendations for optimization and improvement.
- Partner with legal and compliance teams to analyze trading data for regulatory adherence, ensuring all activities meet established guidelines.
- Conduct proactive research into emerging fraud tactics and industry best practices to enhance the platform's defensive strategies.
- Serve as the primary data liaison for the Trust and Safety team, ensuring that data requests are fulfilled accurately and efficiently.
- Analyze on-chain activities and trading data to identify discrepancies or patterns that may indicate malicious behavior.
- Document analytical methodologies and findings to create a knowledge base for future investigations and team learning.
- Lead ad-hoc projects that require deep dives into specific risk areas, providing strategic insights to leadership.
- Mentor junior analysts on best practices for data analysis and SQL implementation within the trust and safety domain.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in data analysis, showcasing your ability to thrive in uncertain environments.
- Proficient in SQL, with the capability to write efficient queries against new database schemas and troubleshoot independently.
- A solid background in fraud detection, AML investigations, or trust and safety analytics, ideally within an exchange, fintech, or comparable environment.
- Proven experience in independently defining and completing open-ended investigations, going beyond merely answering predefined questions.
- Familiarity with creating dashboards that serve as essential data sources for operational or compliance teams.
- Strong communication abilities, with the skill to convey findings, their implications, and suggested actions to individuals who may not be familiar with SQL.
- A demonstrated history of working with high-dimensional datasets and deriving clear conclusions from noisy information.
- The capacity to manage multiple analytical priorities simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Knowledge of cryptocurrency or prediction market data structures, on-chain activities, or trading data from exchanges.
- Experience in developing or contributing to detection logic or rules engines for fraud prevention or AML compliance.
