About the role
This position is for an early-career backend engineer to join the Markets automation team. You will develop and maintain the core infrastructure that ensures thousands of live prediction markets are accurate and resolve correctly in real time. This role offers significant ownership of end-to-end pipelines from day one, with direct impact on platform reliability and user trust.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Build and maintain automated pipelines for market creation, configuration, and lifecycle updates across many concurrent markets.
- Integrate external data sources like sports APIs and news feeds for market creation and resolution, managing inconsistent data from vendors.
- Design reliable pipelines with idempotency, safe re-runs, and rapid failure detection through monitoring.
- Contribute to data-driven systems that ensure accurate and timely market resolutions.
- Debug production failures within market infrastructure, often under time pressure, with senior engineer support.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions as a full member of the engineering team.
Requirements
- 1-4 years of professional backend engineering experience, or equivalent experience from strong internships and significant personal projects.
- Strong proficiency in at least one of TypeScript, Python, or Go, with the ability to work in the others.
- Practical experience integrating third-party APIs and handling real-world data that may be inconsistent or poorly documented.
- Demonstrated ability to ship production-ready code, evidenced by a production job, public repositories, or running personal projects.
- Comfort using AI-native development tools like Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor.
- A strong sense of ownership, caring about the systems you build and their operational status.
- Comfort with Linux and cloud tools, or a proven ability to quickly learn new infrastructure.
Nice to have
- Personal projects built using Polymarket, Kalshi, or other prediction market APIs.
- Exposure to queues, streaming systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ), or workflow engines.
- Genuine interest in prediction markets, sports, or trading.
