Pinterest is seeking inquisitive, well-rounded Android engineers to join both our Platform and Product teams where you will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to advance the boundaries of mobile technology and user experiences. You will own the design, implementation, and scaling of robust frameworks and innovative features that empower both internal developers and millions of Pinners worldwide to create a life they love. This role demands courageous, creative thinkers who are ready to propose bold ideas, drive initiatives from vision to launch, and deliver with the reliability expected at Pinterest scale. You will leverage AI as a powerful partner that augments creativity and amplifies impact throughout the entire development lifecycle. Your work will directly enable the Platform team to build the core foundations that power Pinterest Mobile and ensure exceptional software quality. You will be an active contributor to the Builds and Client Testing group, which develops industry-leading tools for fast, reliable builds and comprehensive testing across mobile platforms. What you'll do

Lead and contribute to every stage of the engineering process, from rapid prototyping and A/B testing to architecting, building, and releasing features and frameworks that scale to millions of users.

Drive technical initiatives that benefit both users and engineers, focusing on modularization, scalable architecture, advanced media handling, dependency injection, and reusable UI components.

Uphold and advance code and system quality by building and maintaining foundational and shared components that meet the highest standards of reliability.

Utilize industry-leading tools and practices, including AI-driven development, build and test automation, and comprehensive CI/CD pipelines to accelerate delivery.

Support and mentor peers while growing your expertise, taking on high-impact projects across both the mobile product and platform landscape.

Use AI thoughtfully to accelerate execution, from drafting and prototyping to outlining and validating designs, always applying sound judgment and rigorous verification.

Ensure the protection of sensitive data, uphold high integrity, and remain accountable for your decisions and deliverables in all engineering activities.

Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to define technical requirements and translate business goals into robust mobile solutions.

Optimize application performance, stability, and scalability through profiling, testing, and continuous refinement of the mobile stack.

Contribute to open source and internal tool ecosystems that enhance developer productivity and enable faster experimentation.

Implement automated testing strategies and frameworks that ensure quality across diverse device configurations and user scenarios.

Champion best practices in security, privacy, and compliance within mobile applications and their backend integrations.

Lead code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions to elevate the overall engineering standards across the organization.

Requirements

5+ years of professional Android experience (Product or Platform), delivering consumer or business-facing products at scale with a strong track record of execution.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience that demonstrates deep technical competence.

Proficiency in Android best practices and modern development, especially Kotlin and/or Java, including a deep understanding of the Activity Lifecycle, memory management, and modular app architecture.

Strong experience with Gradle, CI/CD workflows, automated testing, and tools such as Buildkite and Android Studio for efficient development cycles.

Habit of writing reliable, maintainable code that is designed for readability, scalability, and use by large engineering teams across multiple products.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where priorities evolve and agility is essential.

Strong problem-solving skills and the initiative to identify root causes, propose solutions, and drive resolution of complex technical challenges.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.

Nice to have

Experience with building and scaling consumer-facing mobile applications that handle high user engagement and complex feature sets.

Deep knowledge of Android performance optimization, including profiling, memory tuning, and battery efficiency improvements.

Familiarity with large-scale modular monorepo architectures and dependency management at Pinterest scale.

Experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflows to enhance engineering productivity.

Background in open source contributions or participation in developer communities related to mobile technologies.
