Bamboohr is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our dynamic team in Woodland, Washington. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase of our projects, ensuring accurate cost assessments and resource allocation. What you'll do

• Conduct thorough analysis of project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for various construction projects.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to gather necessary information and clarify project details that impact cost.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of costs for materials, labor, and equipment to support accurate estimating practices.
• Prepare detailed bid proposals and presentations for clients, highlighting the value and quality of Bamboohr's services.
• Review and analyze subcontractor bids to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project specifications.
• Monitor project budgets and expenditures throughout the construction process, providing updates and adjustments as necessary.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gain a clear understanding of project requirements and constraints.
• estimating software and tools to streamline the estimation process and improve accuracy.
• Assist in the development of project schedules and timelines, ensuring alignment with cost estimates.
• Provide support during the negotiation process with clients and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
• Stay informed about industry trends, materials, and techniques to enhance estimating accuracy and efficiency.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating department, sharing insights and best practices with team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in construction estimating or a similar role, preferably within the commercial or residential sectors.
• Proficiency in estimating software such as Sage Estimating, PlanSwift, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and processes.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.

Nice to have

• Certification from a recognized estimating or construction management organization (e.g., ASPE, CMAA).
• Experience with value engineering and cost-saving strategies in construction projects.
• Knowledge of green building practices and sustainable construction methods.
• Familiarity with project management software such as Procore or Microsoft Project.
• Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring role within an estimating team.

Skills & tools

• Strong mathematical and analytical skills to ensure precise calculations and assessments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and proposal writing.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications accurately.
• Strong negotiation skills to facilitate discussions with clients and subcontractors.
• Familiarity with construction safety standards and practices.
