Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

You will oversee the stability, security, and growth of large-scale distributed big data infrastructure. This position involves automating complex operational tasks and leading incident response efforts to maintain high availability for our payment systems.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Manage and maintain Linux and Unix environments.
• Lead on-call rotations and conduct thorough post-incident reviews.
• Build automation for provisioning, patching, and scaling big data clusters.
• Diagnose and resolve production outages while implementing preventative measures.
• Review system architectures to ensure they meet performance and reliability standards.
• Enforce security protocols across all infrastructure layers.
• Develop scripts and tools to reduce manual operational overhead.
• Monitor system resource usage and perform capacity planning.
• Partner with development teams to integrate reliability principles into the software lifecycle.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of experience in managing distributed big data ecosystems.
• Deep knowledge of Linux, including IP, Iptables, and IPsec.
• Proficiency in programming or scripting with Perl, Golang, or Python.
• Practical experience with the Hadoop stack, specifically HDFS, HBase, Airflow, YARN, Ranger, Kafka, and Pinot.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Salt, Chef, or Ansible.
• Proficiency with DevOps tooling including Saltstack, Docker, and Git.
• Experience with monitoring and logging stacks like ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTSDB, and OpenTelemetry.
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience managing infrastructure on public clouds like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Background in designing architectures for high scalability.
• Familiarity with advanced observability and visualization tools.
