Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Join PhonePe to maintain the stability and performance of a major fintech platform. This role involves ensuring our services are consistently available and operational. We are looking for an engineer with strong Linux/Unix skills and an understanding of networking and cloud technologies.

What you'll do

• Administer Linux/Unix systems and apply networking knowledge
• Utilize open-source tools and cloud services
• Implement IT operations best practices to maintain continuous service availability
• Participate in the on-call rotation
• Work with MySQL databases
• Apply coding and scripting skills
• Automate tasks and manage configurations
• Work within private cloud environments

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in Linux/Unix administration
• Proficiency in computer networking
• Experience with open-source technologies and cloud services
• Ability to maintain always-up, always-available services
• Willingness to join an on-call rotation
• Effective communication in English
• Strong background in Linux networking, including IP, iptables, and IPsec
• Working experience with MySQL databases
• Coding and scripting skills, preferably in Perl, Python, or Golang
• Experience with automation and configuration management tools like SaltStack
• Hands-on experience with private cloud environments

Nice to have

• Experience implementing cloud services on Linux using KVM/QEMU
• Familiarity with container orchestration technology
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases, especially Aerospike
• Proficiency in Perl and Golang
• Understanding of Galera cluster operations
• Experience with data center activities
• Working experience with MariaDB or Percona
