Specialist - Vendor Compliance Management

About the role

This position focuses on overseeing the entire lifecycle of vendor compliance for collections, from initial onboarding and contract management to ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. You will be instrumental in optimizing collection processes and maintaining strong partner relationships.

What you'll do

• Manage the complete legal process for delinquent accounts, using legal frameworks to maximize collections.
• Oversee the onboarding of new collection vendors, including background checks and contract execution from a collections standpoint.
• Update existing vendor agreements to reflect operational, compliance, or commercial changes.
• Handle collections-specific obligations within partner contracts and manage amendments.
• Obtain necessary approvals to authorize specific vendors for partner portfolios.
• Conduct internal audits of collection standard operating procedures to ensure alignment with business metrics.
• Support both internal and external collection audits.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the collections platform.

Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in legal collections within Indian Banks or Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs).
• Bachelor's degree in Law.
• Strong understanding of legal frameworks governing debt collection in India, vendor management compliance, and contractual obligations.
• Good understanding of RBI regulations on Fair Practices Code (FPC) for partners, outsourcing guidelines, and recovery agent codes of conduct.
• Familiarity with RBI's Digital Lending Guidelines, particularly regarding customer data protection and collections transparency.
• Thorough knowledge of recovery tools such as Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, and the Payment and Settlement Systems Act (for e-NACH/ECS failures).
• Understanding of data privacy practices to ensure secure handling of borrower information during vendor onboarding and platform integrations.
