Release Management Engineer, Mobile

About the role

We are seeking a Release Management Engineer to oversee and enhance the process of delivering our iOS and Android applications. This role involves close collaboration with various teams to ensure smooth, predictable, and secure application updates. You will be instrumental in managing the entire release lifecycle for a widely used financial product.

What you'll do

• Take ownership of the complete release cycle for Phantom's mobile applications on both iOS and Android.
• Coordinate release timelines, manage version control, oversee build deployment, and handle app store submissions.
• Facilitate release readiness discussions with engineering, quality assurance, product management, and other stakeholders.
• Lead go/no-go decisions, clearly communicating any risks, obstacles, or outstanding issues.
• Administer platforms like TestFlight, App Store Connect, and Google Play Console, including managing staged rollouts.
• Orchestrate emergency fixes, urgent releases, and rollback strategies when necessary.
• Monitor the performance of releases, tracking metrics such as crash rates, regressions, rollout progress, and user-impacting problems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to builds, code signing, submissions, and deployments.
• Automate recurring release tasks using tools such as GitHub Actions, Fastlane, Bash, or Python.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, checklists, operational guides, and status reports for releases.
• Ensure all releases adhere to Apple and Google's platform policies and submission guidelines.
• Work with engineering teams to improve the consistency and reliability of mobile builds.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in release engineering, mobile DevOps, build engineering, or a comparable field.
• Practical experience in releasing production versions of iOS and Android applications.
• Proficient understanding of App Store Connect, TestFlight, Google Play Console, and mobile code signing, provisioning, and certificate management.
• Experience with mobile CI/CD platforms like GitHub Actions, Bitrise, CircleCI, or Buildkite.
• Demonstrated experience in managing release branches, application versioning, hotfixes, and phased rollouts.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve mobile build and deployment challenges.
• Familiarity with scripting or automation for technical tasks.
• Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional coordination capabilities.
• Capacity to remain composed and make sound decisions during high-pressure release events or incidents.

Nice to have

• Experience with React Native applications.
• Familiarity with Fastlane or similar tools for automating mobile releases.
• Experience supporting a large-scale consumer mobile application.
• Knowledge of mobile quality assurance, automated testing, crash reporting, or release observability.
• Prior experience in the crypto, fintech, web3, or other highly regulated or security-conscious industries.
