About the role
Join the AI Products team to enhance the mobile experience for Perplexity users. This role focuses on optimizing the entire user journey on Android, from initial discovery to long-term engagement and upgrades. You will contribute to the core product by translating user behavior into lasting product features.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop and manage user growth features across the Android mobile funnel, including installation, activation, onboarding, user lifecycle, conversion, retention, and paid upgrades.
- Lead experiments from concept and setup through analysis and deployment, managing multiple parallel tests despite app release schedules.
- Manage in-app purchase and paywall systems, including billing integrations, subscription flows, entitlement accuracy, and pricing experiments.
- Create effective push and lifecycle notifications that encourage user opt-ins, focusing on targeting, timing, deep linking, and measuring retention impact.
- Ensure cross-platform consistency for features like onboarding and upsells by collaborating with web and design engineers.
- Work with the Growth team to improve app store performance and user attribution.
- Drive improvements in key metrics such as install-to-activation rates, daily/weekly/monthly retention, notification engagement, paid conversions, and habit formation.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, Monetization, Marketing, and the core Mobile team to transform user signals into enduring product surfaces.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional mobile engineering experience delivering consumer applications at scale on Android.
- Strong native Android development skills using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, with flexibility to work on other parts of the tech stack.
- Experience managing a complete release cycle, including build tools, phased rollouts, store review, crash monitoring, and safe rollbacks.
- Proven ability to execute quickly, shipping numerous experiments and product enhancements in parallel to achieve clear outcomes.
- Familiarity with A/B testing and experimentation platforms, especially within a versioned application environment.
- Comfortable making data-informed decisions, including the ability to retrieve, segment, and interpret funnel data.
- Strong product judgment, translating user behavior and growth opportunities into simple, effective technical solutions.
- Self-motivated with strong ownership, proposing experiments, delivering features efficiently, and driving improvements independently.
- Genuine interest in and use of AI products, with a readiness to learn quickly.
Nice to have
- Direct experience on a growth or experimentation-focused team.
- Extensive experience with in-app payment systems.
- Experience with mobile attribution and measurement platforms, as well as paid mobile acquisition.
- Experience with App Store Optimization (ASO), including store listing experiments and localized metadata.
- Ability to work with backend or web stacks to complete end-to-end tasks.
- Prior experience at a rapidly growing startup or on a high-ownership engineering team.
