About the role
Perplexity is looking for a leader to shape the developer experience for its API Platform. This role involves managing the entire journey developers take with Perplexity's APIs, from initial discovery to successful implementation. You will combine technical skill with a focus on quality and community building.

What you'll do
- Manage the complete developer experience portfolio for the Perplexity API Platform.
- Create and refine the developer-facing content, including documentation, SDKs, CLIs, MCPs, and Agent Skills, with a strong emphasis on detail.
- Cultivate a thriving developer community that promotes Perplexity's APIs and expands their potential uses.
- Understand customer needs, successful patterns, and challenges to represent the developer's perspective.
- Lead public interactions through developer events, social media, and online forums.
- Develop an ecosystem of community resources and examples to demonstrate effective API usage.
- Establish metrics for developer satisfaction and drive continuous improvements across the API Platform.
- Organize workshops and hackathons to encourage experimentation, deployment, and customer success.
- Collaborate with technical staff, go-to-market teams, and support to ensure developer success across various industries and deployment scales.
Requirements
- Significant technical experience with or supporting developer-facing products, ideally with a history of increasing adoption.
- Strong understanding of developers' needs across different experience levels and technology stacks; prior developer relations experience is highly relevant.
- A clear mental model of the developer ecosystem, especially how developers find, evaluate, and choose API products.
- A refined sense for API design and experience prototyping and building API-based products.
- Solid grasp of the current AI technical stack, including key players, technologies, and opportunities for differentiation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in developer-focused formats like technical articles, documentation, and conference presentations.
- Capability to balance the use of advanced AI agents with the need for personal touch and good design.
- High personal standards for the quality of your work, with a keen eye for imperfections.
- Willingness and comfort to take on diverse responsibilities to deliver an outstanding developer experience.
