Sr. Software Engineer

About the role

The Emerging Team at Pendo is building AI-native products for our product experience platform from the ground up. You will design and ship applied AI systems that define the future of product intelligence rather than simply adding features to existing tools. This role requires high autonomy and the ability to navigate ambiguous problems while delivering production-ready software.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Build and deploy AI systems including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and LLM-powered features.
• Define evaluation frameworks to monitor model performance, detect hallucinations, and implement production guardrails.
• Manage the full lifecycle of AI models including deployment, latency optimization, cost management, and system reliability.
• Contribute to both backend and frontend code to deliver complete, user-facing product experiences.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to validate problem statements and prioritize features.
• Stay updated on research regarding transformers, diffusion architectures, and orchestration frameworks.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building and shipping LLM-powered systems, specifically RAG, tool use, and agent orchestration.
• Proficiency in system design with the ability to identify failure modes and make architectural tradeoffs.
• Experience setting technical standards and improving shared infrastructure.
• Expertise in model evaluation, including designing test suites and mitigating bias or hallucinations.
• Knowledge of modern model architectures like transformers and diffusion models.
• Experience managing AI production requirements such as monitoring, deployment, and cost optimization.
• Strong full-stack engineering skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated product-first mindset.

Nice to have

• Experience fine-tuning foundation models.
• Knowledge of AI safety, guardrail frameworks, and responsible deployment.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
• Background in SaaS or product analytics.
• Experience launching new products or teams.
